"The River's Journey"
Headwaters to Estuaries

Artist Statement
I adore the untamed Pacific Northwest. I experience these rivers from their alpine headwaters to quiet coastal estuaries. My creative practice begins on the trail. I hike along the river's edge, sit on giant boulders and absorb sensory details... rushing currents, hawk, sprays of water, first sunbeams in the trees, and the perfect stillness.
In "The River's Journey," I incorporate my love of sunrise and peace. Within in the estuary's calm I add soft morning color and the occassional solitary boat (without oars), drifting through marshy waters, This visual anchor feels like the carefree sensation of floating, in quiet nature.
Working in the studio I translate these memories into serene realistic riverscapes and continue the imagery, around the edges, unifying traditional realism, with a contemporary presentation.
